Will I Ever Find Someone? When Will I Find Love?
Finding your true love, your soulmate, is time-consuming. And, sometimes you feel like giving up and accepting the fact that you will be in your sixties living alone with 13 cats. But, girl, that’s not the case! Love takes time, and even though it’s frustrating you just have to wait it out. Here are some things to keep in mind when it feels like everyone has found their bae for life except for you.
1Let Go Of Your Ex
Ok, girl, you can’t find love if you’re still totally obsessing over your ex. If you find yourself craving a lover, now is the time to throw out your ex’s hoodie, the teddy bear he gave you, and burn the pictures of the two of you at Prom on your dresser. Or, at least put them away in a box. It’s time for a fresh start. It’s helpful to remember that there is a reason you and your ex aren’t together anymore.
2Love Yourself
The most important thing you need to do before you find true love is to love yourself first. This way you will radiate confidence and you will attract the type of man that you deserve. It’s true what they say, “You can’t love someone else until you love yourself”. So, write a list of all the reasons you’re amazing, like how intelligent you are, how good you are at curling your hair, and the way you can make anyone laugh. Always keep these qualities in mind, and then just do you.
3Put Yourself Out There
You can’t find the love of your life if you’re locked up in your bedroom all the time binging the latest Netflix trend. You need to say ‘yes’ to those social invites you get and put yourself out there so that you can be seen. And, when you are at events absolutely do not put yourself in a corner. Put yourself in the center of the room and don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with a hottie at the punch bowl. I know you’re PJs and ice cream can sound a lot more appealing on a Friday night after a long week of work, but, sorry, ladies, Prince Charming doesn’t make house calls.
4Have The Time
Sometimes you just don’t have the time to date and strike up conversations with potential lovers and that’s ok. It’s nice to take a break from dating once in a while. But, if you are craving some major love, try to clear your schedule a little to give it the proper attention it deserves. Maybe drop that extra yoga class on the weekends, or say ‘no’ to family dinner once in while in swap of a date with a cutie. You don’t want to be the flaky girl always canceling plans because you have a test to study for. Do this a few times and your man will think you’re not interested anymore and move on.
5Find The Right Person
Love is all about finding the right person. There is no reason to settle for someone who you are totally not digging just to say that you’re in a relationship or that you’re getting some. It’s better to be alone than to be with someone who just isn’t right for you. I mean, who would want to spend countless hours with someone who completely bores them or worse disrespects them? Always remember what you deserve and love will find you when the time is right.
6Remember That It’s Never Too Late
Love has no timeline, so don’t get discouraged if it just hasn’t happened for you yet. Sure, maybe you’ve tried out a few different people, but if it’s not right, it’s not worth it to continue. On a similar note, absolutely do not compare yourself to your friends and what they are doing in their romantic lives. The journey to love is different for everyone and some journeys take more time than others. So, be patient, my dear.
7There Is No Right Formula
Love is not rocket science. There is no proper formula that will help you find it. And, there is no telling how long it will take. Love happens in many different ways. Just think of all the cute first meeting stories you’ve heard couples tell. Or, all the cute rom-coms we binge on a girl’s night in. Fate is real and when you are ready for love, love will find you. Until then, you’ll have to sit back, patiently waiting, and loving yourself…while binging on some more rom-coms. They’ll help you keep the faith that love is coming your way!
8Stop Looking So Hard
If you are the girl who is constantly on the lookout for a man, you definitely won’t find one, at least one worth having. Love comes to you when it is least expected and that is one of the things that makes it so special. Always remember to be patient, do you, and love will sneak up on you and sweep you off of your feet. Also, no one likes the friend at the party who is always concerned about who is available to take home. Be the girl who is having fun with their friends and meeting new people and maybe you’ll stumble into your new lover by the stereo.
9Remember Love Is A Strategy
Modern dating is a total strategy game. You swipe right, swipe left, go on date after date, and when you find someone that is compatible with you, then you start to get a little more serious. This is when you start digging deeper into the person you’re seeing and discover is this is love or if it’s just not going to work out. It’s all about your compatibility, balance of personalities, and schedule. Everyone is busy nowadays, so it helps when your lives sync up well together, but even if you have opposite schedules and the chemistry is there, you can make it work. It’s all about strategy.
10Love Does Not Make Everything Magically Better
It’s absolutely essential to remember that love does not make everything magically better. Some sweet kisses from a hottie won’t mask the sadness of your dog dying or you losing your dream job. If you are not happy with your life at the moment, adding a lover just causes extra stress, which can actually make it worse. Focus on yourself first in order to fix what is wrong before you start actively dating. New suitors don’t want to be drowned in your emotional baggage right away. So, be sure not to get into a relationship until you can make yourself happy.
11Don’t Be Negative
Nobody likes being around a negative person, so try to keep the vibe around you positive. Make sure you are doing things in your daily life that are making you happy. Don’t be afraid to laugh loud in public or strike up a conversation with that stud in your art class. Friendliness attracts lovers way more than negativity ever has. So, be sure not to start out a conversation on a negative note. Always keep it light and flirty!
12Don’t Rely On Others
You have to make sure you are not relying on others to find your soulmate. It’s ok to ask your friends to set you up on a date or two if you find their friend attractive, but this shouldn’t be the only way you are getting dates. It can be hard to approach people we don’t know, but if you are shy there are other options! Try some dating apps! You just might find the man of your dreams on your phone screen. And, if you are scared to actually meet them in person, you can always bring a friend along until you feel comofortable enough to be alone with them. The right guy would understand.
13Know That You Deserve Love
You deserve love. Every person in the world deserves love. And, it’s up to you to remember this and to know the type of love you desire and that you deserve. Don’t be afraid to have standards. You won’t get too far in a relationship if you decide to date just anybody!
14Don’t Be Too Idealistic
Having high standards and wanting certain things in a lover and a relationship is ok, for sure. What is not ok is having unreachable standards that aren’t flexible. Men are human, they make mistakes, and sometimes they’re a little messy and smelly, but as women, we must be strong and accept the fact that our dream lover doesn’t always brush his hair. And, that expensive dinners and vacations are not always possible. Love should be enough.
15Communicate
You are never going to meet the love of your life if you don’t properly communicate with potential suitors. Men aren’t so great at taking subtle hints, so make sure you let them know that you’re feeling them, so they can make a move. Or, if you are comfortable being aggressive, you can make the first move. Men love that!
