What To Do When You’re Bored
Everybody hates the feeling of being bored! But, what we seem to forget when we have the boredom blues is that there are so many things that we can try that we’ve never done before! Also, there are so many things that we forgot we like to do. So, if you find yourself in this boredom cave of no return, try out some of these ideas. You might just find your next favorite go-to.
1Paint
Even if you do not consider yourself a super artsy person, painting can always be fun. You know why? Because there are no rules when it comes to painting! You don’t have to strive for perfection. You just have to have fun with some colors!
2Read
Not everyone is a super speedy reader and that’s ok! You don’t have to pick up a classic novel or any novel! You could simply read the funnies in the paper, or maybe even check out a cool blog. Whatever you are into, there will be some reading material to match your interests!
3Go Hiking
Hiking is a great way to fight boredom. It gets you out of the house and into some new scenery. And, who could be bored looking at beautiful Mother Earth? Also it gets your body moving and it’s great for some mindful self-care.
4Listen To Music
A great thing to do when you are bored is to listen to music. Try finding some new music and creating a super cool commuting playlist that will get you through the work week. There is so much music out there for you to discover. Who knows, you may just discover your new favorite artist!
5Organize Something
Organization helps clear the mind and keep you focused on a day-to-day basis. Whether it’s your email, your phone apps, your clothes, or your closet, organizing something when you are bored is not only productive, but it can be quite addicting; You may not want to stop.
6Write
You don’t have to consider yourself a writer to take the time to write. It doesn’t matter if you write creatively or a simple journal entry. But, spending time writing helps ease your mind. It’s like therapy through pen and paper. Write about what is worrying you and then burn it! Problems are gone, bye bye!
7Try A New Recipe
We all love food! And, no I am not telling you to bored eat. But, why not try a new recipe? There are so many ideas online. You can type in whatever you are feeling, go to the grocery store to get the ingredients, and give it a try!
8Call A Friend
We all have friends we haven’t talked to in a long time. And, I am sure the call is long overdue! So, why not take this time to call that friend you have been meaning to call for months! It will stop you from being bored. And, you will both benefit from this time.
9Do A Puzzle
Puzzles are good for any age! You may have forgotten how much fun they are! So, go to the store and grab one if you don’t have one. And, get to work on a jig saw puzzle and a glass of wine or hot cocoa.
10Watch A Movie Or Binge A Show
There is always something hot and new to binge on Netflix. So, take this time to see what all the fuss is about by getting cozy with some tea and binging. It’s ok to have some lazy days once in a while. You work hard, you deserve it!
11Play Solitaire
Solitaire is a classic game that you can play solo. Which is great for when you are all alone and totally bored! A lot of times we forget how much fun a simple card game can be, but this will surely remind you!
12Plan A Vacation
We all have that dream vacation in our heads; whether it is with a lover, a group of friends, or your family. Since you are terribly bored, now is a great time to actually plan it. Look into the costs, the excursions, the resorts! You can make it happen if you just take the time to research it.
13Exercise
Exercise is a great way to fight boredom because it will tire you out! It’s a healthy form of self-care that will have your body and your mind thanking you after. So, get out the yoga mat or go for a run around the block.
14Update Your Resume
There is something to be said about being productive when you are bored. There is always more you can do to climb that job ladder, so why not update your resume? Maybe you don’t have anything new to add, but it doesn’t hurt to look over it and maybe see examples online of how you can improve it. Your resume is your job calling card, so treat it that way!
15Create A Vision Board
Vision boards are fun to make and they are a great tool to keep you inspired and focused throughout the year. What do you want to accomplish this year? Use print-offs and magazine cut-outs to represent your goals. You will be happy when you are finished and have something to hang in your room to remind you of your vision.
16Take A Bubble Bath
Bubble baths are not just for children. They are one of the most popular forms of self-care for adult women! So, fill that tub up and grab some candles and put on a relaxing playlist. You definitely deserve the quiet time after a long week. Plus, your skin will feel so soft afterward!
17Meditate
Meditation is a very healthy and spiritual practice. There are not many instances in our day-to-day lives when we can just tune out the world and be without our anxious thoughts. So, when you are bored try taking up meditation. You may find that you want to incorporate it into your everyday schedule.
18Plan A Party
There is always a reason to have a party! And, if there’s not, then make one up! Planning a party is always so much fun. You can decide who is coming, what is going to be on the menu, and what games you will play! Also, think about all the decorations! There are so many details you could look into that will fight your boredom for hours. And, when you are done planning, be sure to actually make an event and invite people! You can’t let all that hard work go to waste.
19Get Lost On Pinterest
Ok, admit it- Pinterest is where we all go when we are super bored and there is a reason for that! There are so many cute things that will have you clicking and pinning away. You can make a wedding board, a new house board, a recipe board, a photoshoot board; the options are endless! Just be sure you have enough time to actually go on Pinterest, because we all know how addicting it can be.
20Learn A New Language
Have you ever wanted to learn a new language? Well, now is your chance! Download an app, or go online and look for some free courses so you can start learning! It is such a great skill to know a second language, and if you really dedicate yourself to it, you could be fluent in no time!
21Find A New Podcast
Podcasts are all the rage. And, there are so many different kinds out there. Whether you are interested in comedy, art, career advice, or a good story, there is a podcast for you! Look at reviews online in order to determine which ones to download and try out. But, be careful, you may just get hooked!
22Dance
Sometimes all you need to do is a have a solo dance party to fight boredom! So, put on some good tunes and maybe even a cute outfit and go to town. Dancing is like therapy and it will definitely get rid of those boredom blues. Plus, you don’t have to worry about dancing well because, well….this is a solo dance party!
23Try A New Class
There are so many classes to discover where you can learn a new skill; Art classes exercise classes, whatever you are interested in! So, go online and start googling classes near you to see what sparks your interest and sign up! Who knows, you might just find your new calling!
24Do A Photoshoot
Photoshoots are so fun! If you have a friend available, call them up and see if they want to do one with you. Or, if no one is around, you could always plan out photoshoots that will jazz up your Instagram and maybe even get you to Instafame status.
25Start An Insta For Your Pet
‘My pet is the cutest pet in the world’…said every dog mom ever! So, why not show off your fluff-ball by making them a super cute Instagram? Just don’t be jealous when your snuggly love gets more likes than you. They can’t help that they are so darn cute!
