1Slightly teased crown with a mid/high bun

Ashley Benson hair updo

Ashley achieved this gorgeous look by teasing the top portion of her hair and then putting her hair into a medium high ponytail. Before she fashioned her ponytail into a relaxed bun, she most likely sprayed her teased roots with hairspray to ensure that her volume did not flatten while she finished creating her look. There are a ton of ways to replicate this type of bun, but the easiest way is to wrap your hair around the ponytail fastener and use bobby pins to keep your bun in place. This is the perfect easy updo for girls who want to wear an updo that is the perfect mix of elegant and casual.

2Low messy bun with face framing tendrils and a headband

Lauren completely nails the casual yet glamorous look with this easy updo. Part your hair in the center, separate out a few face framing pieces and then pull your hair back into a messy bun. You can create the bun however you like, but the easiest thing to do is probably bunching up your long hair into a ball and then wrapping a clear elastic band around it. This would look beautiful even without the headband, but adding a sparkly band like Lauren will add a bit of subtle elegance to this quick and easy updo.

3Low twisted bun with curled hair

Diane Kruger hair updo

Diane looks beautifully retro with this low updo that grazes the nape of her neck. Although this style looks very elegant, it is a surprisingly easy updo to replicate with a few bobby pins or other fasteners of your choosing. If your hair is not naturally wavy, you can curl your hair quickly to add a little bit of texture. Next create a heavy side part and comb your hair smooth against your scalp. Now you can separate your hair into 3 equally sized sections. One section at a time, twist your hair around your finger and then place the twist above your neck and secure it with your fastener. The key to this look is not trying to make it look perfect! You want your twists to look effortless which means you can achieve this in minutes. If you want to add a little extra glamour, try adding sparkling hair accessories like Diane!

4Super sleek mid/high bun

Megan Fox hair updo

Although some women may prefer a softer more voluminous updo, Megan shows us how gorgeous a tight, sleek updo can look. This updo can look stunningly elegant or neatly casual depending on your accessories and clothing choices. In order to achieve this look, comb your hair smooth against your head and pull it into a super tight mid to high ponytail. Next slip your ponytail through the center of a mesh bun maker. If you don’t have one yet, you should consider buying one because they will make your life so much easier and they are extremely inexpensive! Once your bun maker is at the base of your ponytail you can tuck your ponytail around it and under it in order to create a super sleek structured round bun. Finish your look with some hairspray to keep everything smooth and in place!

5Slightly teased low messy bun with face framing layers

easy hair updos
Eva Longoria

This look is seriously gorgeous and a seriously easy updo to replicate! You will need a curling iron and fasteners. Begin by spraying a root lifter or hairspray onto your scalp in order to achieve a subtle lift. Next, gather your hair into a low ponytail and pull out a few pieces that you would like to frame your face. With your curling iron, style these front pieces to create soft tendrils around your face. Now all you need to do is create your bun. You can make this bun in a variety of ways, but the easiest thing to do is to use a mesh bun maker. Pull your ponytail through the center of the mesh bun maker and then tuck your hair around the sock. Don’t spend more than a couple minutes doing this because the key to Eva’s effortless look is that her updo has pieces that stick out. If you do not have a mesh bun maker, you can split your ponytail in half, twist these sections and fasten them to your lower scalp with bobby pins. Again, this look is gorgeous precisely because it is not “perfect” so you don’t need to worry about any stray hairs that don’t lay flat in your bun.

6Low messy side bun with a heavy side part

This is such an easy and pretty updo to try out with your long hair. If you don’t normally style your hair with a heavy side part, the first thing you need to do is create a side part. After you have created your part, gather your hair into a medium height side ponytail that is on the side opposite to your chosen part. Now use a hair elastic to create a messy bun. You don’t need bobby pins with this look since the bun is extra casual. Once you have added your bun, gently tug your original ponytail fastener down about an inch in order to slightly mess up the hair on your scalp which will integrate your messy bun flawlessly. This is the perfect casual updo style for any girl with long hair!

7Low bun with wavy pieces

In order to make your style look as much like Brooklyn’s hair as possible, you will already need to have layered hair. However, even if you don’t have layered hair, you can create the illusion of different length hair using hairspray to replicate the look of those beachy sections that lead into Brooklyn’s low bun. Brooklyn’s low bun is slightly more complex than a normal bun because she has outer sections of hair that twist into the bun. But don’t worry, just because it looks complicated, doesn’t mean it is! Spray a volumizing product into your hair in order to add some lift to all of your roots. After you do that, separate your hair into 3 equal sections. Twist the two outer sections and spray them with hairspray. With your twisted outer sections in your hands, gather the third center section and begin to fold your hair up toward the nape of your neck. Once your hair is at the desired placement, fasten as many bobby pins as you think you will need to keep it secure. If you have thick and heavy hair, do not underestimate how much fastening power you should use! Although Brooklyn’s look is courtesy of her talented professional stylist, it is pretty amazing how well you can recreate this look in just a few minutes.

8Twisted sections leading into mid level bun

If you don’t have naturally curly hair, you can achieve this gorgeous twisted texture using your fingers and hairspray. Take small sections of hair and twist them around your finger and then douse them in hairspray to make sure they stay twisted. There is no “right way” to do this so depending on your preferences and hair thickness you may need to do 10 to 30 of these small sections. Each section only takes a few seconds to do so don’t worry! Next Gather your hair into a medium height ponytail and then wrap the ponytail around the fastener and secure it. As Hayden shows us, this style looks extremely elegant, but it also would look perfect in a more casual setting because of its beachy texture!

9Messy top knot

Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani is a style icon when it comes to mastering edgy glamour. Top knots are an easy way to wear a classic bun in a striking way. In order to recreate this look, comb or brush your hair up so that you can create a high ponytail. Don’t worry about any pieces that don’t quite make it into the ponytail since this particular look is super casual. Once you have your super high ponytail, wrap your hair around the ponytail base to create a tall round bun and secure it with bobby pins or an elastic band. This is a gorgeous and easy updo which is perfect for any girl who wants to use her long hair to create a striking updo!

10Neat top knot with bangs and face framing layers

Top knots are totally on trend right now, and they look super cute when you have bangs! Unlike Gwen’s messy topknot, Bella chooses to have a slightly neater and sleeker updo. So, if you want to replicate this look you need to brush or comb your hair into a super high ponytail, making sure that you keep your hair pretty smooth on the sides. Wrap the hair in your ponytail around the fastener and secure it with pins. That’s all you need to do to create this fresh and stunning easy updo for long hair!

11Teased crown with a low knot bun and bangs

Sarah Hyland hair updo

You can create this updo quickly and easily even if you don’t have bangs, but it is an especially beautiful updo to try out with bangs like Sarah’s. First you need to tease the back of your hair in order to get some beautiful lift. After you do that, carefully smooth your hair into a low and loose ponytail. Next, you can create a knot with your pony tail by making a loop that you feed the rest of your hair through. If you don’t want your bun to look like a knot, you can always use bobby pins to create a rounder bun!

12Updo with wraparound fishtail braid

Dianna Agron hair updo
Dianna Agron

Dianna has one of the most beautiful faces in the industry and she looks extra gorgeous with this braided updo look! This look appears to consist of two separate braids, but it is actually just one! If you know how to do a fishtail braid already, this look will not take long. However, if you love the fishtail, but don’t know how to do it, you can always consult an online tutorial, ask a friend for help, or just use a standard braid. Regardless of the braid style you choose, you will need to take the same steps to create this look. First, you should comb your hair back so that you do not have a visible part and then create your braid. Next, wrap your long braid around your head so that the thinner end goes across the top of your head. Fasten the end of your braid underneath some of the hair on your scalp so that the end of the braid becomes invisible. This is an absolutely gorgeous easy updo for long haired girls who prefer an elegant yet bohemian look and do not want to wear a bun!

13Bohemian braided updo

This look is similar to Dianna’s braided updo, but Mary Kate’s style is looser and even more bohemian looking with her separated face framing strands and middle part. First you need to part your hair in the middle and pull forward any pieces that you want to have framing your face. Next create a slightly loose braid. Wrap your braid around your hair and fasten…that’s all you need to do! The looseness of your braid will allow you to accomplish a super casual and bohemian look just like Mary Kate!

14Low sleek side bun with a side part

Camilla Belle hair updo

With her classically beautiful face, Camilla looks amazing with this sleek and retro updo. In order to achieve this look, you first need to create a side part. Camilla does not have bangs, but she creates the illusion of subtle side bangs by styling one side of her hair so that it covers part of her forehead. If you want to replicate this, all you need to do is smooth your hair to the desired place on your forehead and slip a bobby pin behind your ear to keep it in place. Next, you need to create your bun. Comb your hair so that it is smooth, and gather it into a low side ponytail. To build your sleek bun, twist your ponytail and wrap it around your ponytail fastener and then use bobby pins to keep it in place. This is the perfect easy updo for girls with long hair who want to channel old Hollywood glamour!

15Voluminous low gathered bun

Emmy Rossum

Emmy looks absolutely stunning with this low updo. This look is easiest to replicate if you have a mesh bun maker, but we will also provide instructions for replicating this look if you don’t have this prop. Unlike styles where you thread your hair through the center of your mesh bun maker, with this look you will be using the mesh bun maker for the purpose of wrapping your hair over it.. This allows you to create a bun that looks like a gathering of hair, rather than a defined round object. If you have straight hair, try adding a few waves with a curling iron because it will be easier to create volume. After you have curled your hair, create a very low and loose ponytail that starts at the bottom of your neck (about 4 or 5 inches below the bottom of your head). Keep it super loose so that you don’t flatten out the volume of your hair on top and have enough length to cover the mesh bun maker. Next, place the mesh bun maker low on your head and wrap your ponytail over the mesh bun maker so that your hair completely covers it. Now fasten your hair with bobby pins in order to keep your style in place. Using the mesh bun maker makes this style easier because it gives you some structure, but you can also try this without the mesh bun maker. Every step is the same except instead of folding your low loose ponytail over your mesh bun maker you will spray the folded inside of the pony tail with a lot of hairspray to provide some hold and structure. Luckily, this style is gorgeous because it is not perfectly sleek. Don’t worry about it if there are some strands that don’t want to behave!

A lot of girls who have long hair do not think that they can create an easy or casual updo because they assume it will be too complicated. All of the celebrities pictured in this list probably did get their updos styled by a professional, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t recreate these looks easily yourself! There are so many amazingly easy, gorgeous, and versatile updo styles for long hair so don’t give up on trying to find your perfect look. Hopefully this article has inspired you to begin experimenting with some quick and easy updos for your long hair!
